1/4/2020 Rainbow Day, Easter Craft.... Busy, Busy, Busy!

Rainbow Day! Easter Craft Day! Busy… Busy … Busy…. Busy!

I can not wait to see some of your outfits!

I hope you enjoy my rainbow outfit! I had to have a good dig around the wardrobe!

I even made Mr Baker dress up! We say a big hello from the Baker house!

If you haven’t already you could make a rainbow to put in your window, so when people go for
walks they can have a look for them. If you haven’t already you may want to have a walk or a
bike ride around your local area with your own family to find the rainbows in people’s windows.

Today was our Easter craft day at school. I have added some into our plans for today
if you want to have a go.

Spellings
Practice reading and writing your spellings.

Reading
If you have finished your school book you can access books online at

This is free but you will need to sign up. The levels are the same as the colours you are on at school.

You could also listen to a free audio book about children that are not as good as you!

Maths- Addition and Subtraction

Pick some games from here

Easter Crafts
If you have any art bits at home you could make some easter crafts together. I have put a few ideas down.
However if you do not have the stuff to do this. Children could design mini eggs and you could hide them around
the house as an Easter hunt. If you have paper and tape they could design and make a basket to collect them in.
(if you want to entertain them for a while make them tricky to find and have a mini prize (chocolate bar or
something) for if they find them all)

Thank you to Daisy-Mai and Sophie for sharing some of your home learning with me and your class.
It really made me smile to see what you have been up to! Well done for working so hard! I would love for
some of you to send your stories from this week too! I look forward to reading some of them!

Extra bits
I saw these and thought some of you would enjoy them, so have popped them on in case you would
like to do some over Easter. I will also add some extra links on here tomorrow for you to do over Easter
if you want to carry on learning at home. You do not have to at all. They will not be lessons just some
useful links or ideas.

Try the 30 day lego challenge :)

31/3/20 home Learning

Tuesday's Home Learning

Spellings
Practice your spellings
You could do this with chalk, paint, in a tray of flour, felt tips or on paper

Reading
Read a story to someone in your house. It could be Mum, dad, brother, sister, the dog anyone!

Maths-Subtraction

5 to 10 minute practice on this game.
Start with range from 1-12
If you want a trickier challenge try changing range to 1-20

Main activity:
Talk about all the words we can use for subtract- take away, reduce(new vocab), Less, subtraction
Can they think of any more?
Subtraction, two digit numbers
Children can either draw tens and ones using lines and dots and crossing these out or use the number square and whiteboard pens.

This is an example of how we would work one out.

Writing

Use your plan from yesterday. Talk about using capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks,
question marks, adjectives and adverbs (describing how a verb is done for example quickly, slowly.
The link below explains about adverbs)

Write your story.
After you have written your story check it capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks, question marks,
adjectives and adverbs. Edit and improve any mistakes.

On Wednesday.... We are going to dress up on 'rainbow day' in as many colours as we can,
you could paint nails, wear bright clothes and send in pictures. It would be lovely to see lots of you join us!
I will upload mine!

Keep working hard!
If you have any questions or need any help or support or just want to say hello please feel free to email.
Please email office@sutton.norfolk.sch.uk and put Mrs Baker in the subject line. Mrs Tremaine
will make sure it gets to me.

Monday's home learning 30/3/20

Home Learning

Hi Green class! I have uploaded Monday's plan. I have also sent this to parents emails. The ones registered on pupil asset. If you have not received this weeks plan. Please contact the office email and ask to be added to Mrs Baker's emails. I will then send the weeks plan on to you.

I would love to see what you have all been up to!

Monday

Spellings

Show the letters all- what sound does this make?
Can you think of any words with that sound in? Make a little list together.
(some ideas: fall ball call tall, hall wall small stall walk talk stalk chalk)

This weeks spellings are:

Call
Small
Stalk
Also
Month
Money
Nothing
path

Practice this week's spellings. You could write these spellings out and children could write, cover and check the spellings.

Reading

Read a story together. It could be the one in your child’s book bag or one you have at home.
Challenge: Children write some questions for someone in their house to answer about the book. Child marks the answers.

Maths-Addition

Practice addition 24+33=
43+35=
Use a bead string to help or number square, or your child could draw out tens and ones using sticks and dots (we call this base ten)

To begin click on level 2, addition, 2 digit numbers. If your child wants to race the clock you can set a time or if your child would like to take their time to work them out (I suggest this to begin with) change the time to manual.

Harder challenge: Same game but...
Level 2, addition, 2 digit numbers with carrying. Change the time to manual or beat the clock

English- Plan a story
Google Pobble 365
http://www.pobble365.com/rumpelstiltskin/ (This is today's picture)
Or you could pick any picture that interests your child.

Plan your story by thinking about
1- The characters- draw them and describe them using adjectives (describing words)
2- The setting- describe where the story will take place and draw the setting.
3-What is going to go wrong (The problem) draw or write bullet points
4-The solution- how does the problem get fixed. Draw or write bullet points.

Tomorrow you will write your story so keep your plan in your folder.

Geography- Name the continents and oceans

Look at the world map together.

Play

Now look at:

Either draw, paint, chalk or make in a different way. The map of the world including continents and oceans.

Have a super day :)

Day 5 of home learning

Day 5 of Home Learning

Hi Green Class,

I hope you have all had a good week with home learning and have enjoyed showing your grown ups some of how we learn at school.

Next week  Easter holidays begin on Thursday so I have just posted a few extra links in case you are looking for some things to do over the weekend.

I will upload to class blog over the next few days with some home learning for next week.

After Easter I will be emailing your grown ups with your new home learning if we aren't back at school. I will also post it on here for you so even if you can't access emails you can always look on here.

These links are some fun things to have a look at. Lots of zoo's are also showing live streams of animals that you can have a look at all day.

Remember to keep exercising every day. Either play in your garden, join Joe Wicks or have a go on Go Noodle.
I know we have some keen gymnasts and dancers in our class. I saw this and thought some of you may want to join the ballet session.

Thank you Isabella for sending some photos of your home learning. It looks like you have been working hard!
I have shared Isabella's learning so you can still see each other and see what you are all up to.

If you want to send me some pictures of you and the things you have been doing please do. Would be lovely to post pictures of you on our blog so you can see each other! If you send pictures to me but do not want them shared please mention this in your email.

Miss you all lots! Keep being good for your grown ups and enjoy your holidays. In your pack there is a sheet with afternoon tasks on. There are some fun things to do on there while indoors over Easter.

Home learning day 3

Hi Green class!

I am already missing you all. I really hope you are being good at home for your grown ups! I am really excited to see and hear about all your home learning. Remember you can send pictures in to the office email and they will forward it on to me to have a look. I may even post some pictures I get sent on here so you guys can see what one another are learning.

Remember if you send an email to the office email to put my name in the subject bar so it gets sent to me :) office@sutton.norfolk.sch.uk

I saw that David Walliams is reading a story each day for free that you can listen to. They sound quite funny about children that aren't behaving themselves. Obviously the children are nothing like you.
https://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses/

You can also send me an email if you are stuck on any of your work. Remember it is okay to make mistakes :)

See you all soon! Miss you all Mrs Baker

Home learning

Home Learning

I hope your first day of home learning is going okay. Please don't panic if todays spellings, maths or writing didn't go to plan so far. I can assure you it never does :) change it if you need to :)
I know some of you may be looking for some extra bits to do with your children and you may want to use some of these additional ideas. Again please do not feel any pressure these are just ideas.

At 1pm today this is a link for learning British Sign Language:
Available here-https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9w889Lid1JHB-AX4dCoQoQ - at 1pm on Monday*

If they have lots of energy and are wanting some indoor exercise for them. 9am each morning Joe Wicks will be doing a kids PE session.

Go Noodle is lots of fun and the children are used to doing some of these. A few of their favourites are clap, stomp jump, dinosaur stomp and cheerleader. It is free to sign up.

Amazon are also providing free audible stories for children, this may be worth having a look at. This will give them a chance to hear new stories.

Please do look at websites before allowing your child on them to check for safety.

Please say hello from me to your child. Missing them already!

Green class! I was so impressed with all your outfits. We had a lovely day doing story yoga, a story in Spanish and designing and making our own books!

This week in Maths we have focused on fraction and problem solving. We have just started to learn the time too! We have played time bingo. So far we have learnt o'clock and half past.
