Spring week 3

Spring Week 3

This week we have finished our hot air balloon DT project by using a hot glue gun. We learnt to mix secondary colours and to follow our design. We also evaluated our hot air balloons. We have continued to look at the Montgolfier brothers.

This week we began to look at France. We read the story 'A Walk in Paris' . We then went on to try some french food and evaluated it. 

Later in the week we had a research lesson on Christopher Columbus. We used a variety of resources to find out about the explorer and found out many facts. We will continue working on this next week.  

On Friday we celebrated Chinese New Year. We did many activities including cooking, making dragon sliders, Chinese fans and finding out about the history of Chinese New Year. We then had a Chinese banquet at the end of the day together. Some of us tried to use chop sticks. 

Week 2 Spring

Spring Week 2

This week during Art we have been mixing colours to create our design for our hot air balloon we looked at primary and secondary colours. We also looked at adding a little bit of black or white to our mix too. 

We have also started our basket for the bottom of our hot air balloon we made a template and started to learn to weave using wool.

We visited Banham Zoo. We enjoyed learning about which continents the animals come from. We loved seeing so many different animals. We enjoyed getting to touch some animals from Australia.

 Next week:
Monday- Transition day to the Academy.

Spring Term week 1

Spring week 1

Green class have come back ready for learning after the holidays. We have done so much. We have started looking at both 2D and 3D shapes. We looked at lines of symmetry.  We have learnt to name shapes, find how many edges, vertices and faces a 3D shape has.

Later this week we started to look at fractions. 1/2, 1/3, 1/4. We investigated using play dough and sweets. 

During the week we have used the ipads to take photographs, we uploaded these to the computers and then printed our photographs. 

This week we have used paper mache and modrock. We are creating our own hot air baLloons.
