Christmas has commenced :)

We have had a brilliant and very busy week. We have finished our diary entry from the Great Fire of London. We all pretended to be someone from that time and wrote. We tried our best to use time conjunctions, conjunctions, capital letters, full stops and adjectives.

On Thursday we had Year 5/6 visit from Catfield and worked on our Vision statement; friendship, kindness and trust! We all worked together and enjoyed playing board games together in the morning.

We have also been working on dividing by sharing.

Thank you to everyone that came to Christmas Craft morning. We really enjoyed having all the grown ups visit. We made our Christmas tree bauble to put on the tree for church for the Christmas Tree Festival.

Thank you so much for an awesome week :)

Week 4 Autumn 2

Week 4

This week we have been learning to multiply. We have learnt the words multiply, lots of, groups of, multiplication, times and times tables. We have been doing this using groups and moving on to arrays. This shows 4x3=12

We have been planning our diary entry based on the Great Fire of London. We are pretending to be someone from the Great Fire of London. We are learning to use time adverbials and adjectives.

We are also well underway with nativity rehearsals. Thank you so much to everyone that has went to so much effort with costumes. Well done to so many of the children for learning their lines.

This week we had a visitor to come and do a dementia assembly. We listened to the story 'The dragon'
If this is something that effects your family it is worth a watch with the children.

Have a lovely weekend :)

Week 3 Autumn 2

Week 3 Autumn 2

During the week we have got underway with nativity rehearsals. We have all been working hard to learn our songs in school. Please help your child learn their lines at home. We have finished our stories based on Vlad-The Great Fire of London. We have been learning to measure milliliters and liters. We acted like Florence Nightingale who we learnt about last year measuring the correct amount of medicine for patients.

For Children in Need we worked in our house teams and we went around 4 activities. We did team sports, decorating biscuits, making Pudsey ears and a 'Where's Pudsey?' treasure hunt.

We have moved on to multiplication. We call this groups of, lots of, times and multiply. Please encourage your child to practice some at home. We have been drawing hoops and putting that many dots in each hoop. For example 3x4= 12 we draw 3 hoops and put 4 dots in each hoop.

Thank you for all the money you helped us raise for Children in Need!

Green Class Autumn 2 Week 2

Autumn 2 Week 2

In Maths we have been measuring weight in grams and kg. We have been estimating and weighing. We have been recording our findings in a table. We know a bag of sugar is 1kg.

On Tuesday we did a whole school carousel. We did the activities in our house teams. We made rockets. fruit kebabs, firework dance and firework pictures. Year 2 really impressed me with all their help with the younger children.

On Wednesday we went to Norwich Cathedral. We made stain glass windows and found out about the building.

Jessie dressed as the bishop.

We lit a candle and said a prayer.

We listened to the story of the Good Shepard.

I am so pleased to say not only the staff but members of the public commented on how amazing our behaviour was!

We have been learning about apostrophes this week both for possession (Archie's hat) and for contractions (do not- don't)

Thank you for an awesome week Green class.

Autumn 2 Week 1

Week 1 Autumn 2

In Maths this week we have been learning about height and length. We have been using cm, m and mm. This may be something you wish to practice at home as some of us found it quite tricky. We have recorded it for example: 4cm, 2.3 cm, 7mm or 12m.

During the afternoons this week we have been doing Science we have been looking at properties of materials. We have considered the BIG question: What materials would be good to build a house? We looked at lots of properties for example translucent, transparent, opaque, waterproof, dull and shiny.

Thanks to the children that came to hamma bead club- we had a wonderful time. Different children will be selected each week. This gives all children a chance of coming and a choice not to do it.

In English we have been looking at the story Vlad and the Great Fire of London. In the next few weeks the children will be writing their own stories. We have looked at the ed suffix, the spelling rule le, el and al. We have also been looking at the spelling rule wr, gn and kn.

Wow- I was really impressed with all Green classes home learning! The children have new home learning in their book due 6th January 2019.

Remember next week: Cathedral trip Wednesday
